CTCC2021 Seminar topics
If you've visited the CTCC2021 booking site already, you will know that we have a range of seminar options for both online and in-person delegates this year.
In-person delegates will need to choose their seminar options when they sign up. Some of these will not be available to online delegates. If you want to join online, scroll down to see which seminars you will have access to.
IN-PERSON DELEGATES
Morning seminar options
Poverty and the prophetic, Rob Davey
What is the role of the prophetic in social action? How do we hear what God is saying, and do what he says? God speaks to his people and so we can expect to be shaped by the prophetic, and to see the prophetic unlock situations in the lives of the people we're helping.
Bringing prayer into your projects, Matt Wilson
Matt will lead us in looking at some innovative ways to pray for projects and people, including opportunities for delegates to try out and apply the principles and ideas shared.
Expecting supernatural power in our projects, Wendy Mann
When Jesus met people during his ministry, his love for them motivated him to meet their practical needs. His love for them also moved him to bring supernatural breakthroughs to their physical/spiritual/mental needs. How can we increasingly expect to see God's power flow through us as we serve those most in need? Without him we can do nothing, but with him anything is possible!
Afternoon seminar options
Offering hope and salvation, Angela Kemm
We have more to offer to people in crisis than anything the world can give. Angela will encourage us to step out in trusting God to provide and intervene miraculously, and see people's eyes opened to the reality of Jesus; and to believe for people coming to faith. The seminar will include stories from Angela's personal experience and opportunities for us to respond practically.
Blessing & influencing the community around you, Ben Parish
How do we as a local church build a real connection with the local community and have a voice to speak into the issues that affect our town? That was the first question that Ben asked when he joined the leadership team at his church in Lowestoft and took on the responsibility for developing their Community Outreach work. Ben will outline the journey that they have been on as a church in attempting to answer that question; what has gone well, what could have gone better and how they want to develop in the future.
Raising leaders from the margins, unearthing the talents, Rosie Hopley
Rosie will share personal stories and illustrations from her experience to talk about the importance of seeing leaders raised from the margins. Based on Jesus’ parable of the talents, she will identify challenges, and share principles and practice of how to raise leaders from the margins.
Strategic preparation for greater need post-pandemic, Natalie Williams
Many of us having been working flat-out in social action for a long time. We stepped up even more during the pandemic, but it's anticipated that the lives of the poorest will get harder in the coming months and years. How can we go beyond what we're already doing? The key is not working harder, but being strategic. Natalie will offer some practical thoughts on how to plan for greater need in our communities.

There will also be seven pre-recorded seminar options available to download from the conference ‘Dashboard’ on the day:
Changing church for climate justice, Chris Frost
Why should you and your church care about climate change? Why is it a justice issue? And what can you do to play your part? Chris and church member John Davy will explore these questions, as well as giving practical examples of how they have changed their church in light of climate justice.
Discipleship for everyone, Paul Brown & Jim Harper
Discipleship is not a quick fix, but is about the long-haul. Paul Brown will share from his experience of discipleship right through to church leadership, and Jim will share a church leader’s vision and experience of discipling people from the margins.
Empowering the job creators, Chris Page
In the post-Covid world into which we're emerging there is hardly a greater time in our lifetimes for us to use our influence to empower the job makers in our midst. Unemployment is rising in the UK, and it can be utterly demoralising. In this seminar, we'll discover a little more about God’s heart for business, hear stories of how he uses it for his purposes, and learn some practical steps we can all take to inspire job creation.
Equipping people to get back on their feet, Steve Whittington
Steve will share his heart and vision for empowering people who have experienced brokenness, and share stories of individuals, projects, and church planting in deprived communities. He will focus on how to help people rebuild their own lives, in the context of the challenges of post-pandemic Britain.
Helping your church to have God’s heart for people in poverty, Martin Charlesworth
It is one thing to ‘do social action’ but it is another thing altogether for a whole church to embrace God’s heart for those in poverty, to engage relationally with those whom they seek to help, and to share the life of faith with them. This seminar will help you find a way forward in this vital issue.
Standing with the suffering in post-pandemic Britain, Bishop Phillip North
Bishop Philip will address the question of how we can continue, and grow, in crossing the lines of inequality and expressing solidarity with those who suffer in post-pandemic Britain.
Valuing diversity and breaking down divisions, Raj Saha
Raj will share his personal experience of the journey to being part of and now leading a diverse church; stories of challenges, successes and joys; and principles and keys to both becoming and sustaining a healthy diverse church.
The pre-recorded seminars will be available to in-person delegates after the conference, and all delegates will have exclusive access to them for a month, before we make them publicly available.
