From Homelessness to Hope

From Homelessness to Hope

No one experience of homelessness is the same and, for many, a whole sequence of unforseen events lead to a place of desperation.

For Irene, an aspiring seamstress, it was a volcanic eruption on her home island of Montserrat that caused her to become homeless for the first time. Having lost her home in the wake of the volcano's destruction she moved to the UK in the hope of starting a new life, only to find new challenges waited for her here.

As she waited at the 999 Club in Deptford to hear news about whether any emergency housing was available she prayed, "Lord, let there be space for me, and let there be space for my sewing machine."

To hear Irene's inspiring story of finding home, hope and restoration at the Jericho Road Project watch below.
