Jubilee+ Voices – Short Report #1
At our Churches that Change Communities conference last year we annouced the launch of a new advisory group made up of people living on the lowest incomes. Jubilee+ Voices is now up and running, and in the process of listening to and compiling the personal stories, perspectives and viewpoints of those accessing church-based social action and regular church activities.
Why? So that we can listen, learn and share lessons with churches across the UK about what's working and what's not.
Our hope is that those who have lived with the impact of poverty will shape our work at Jubilee+ and the work of local churches, so that together we break some barriers and bring change.
Having hosted the first of three advisory group sessions, this time on the South coast in the seaside town of Hastings, Rosie Hopley (part of the Jubilee+ core team) is ready to report back on initial findings, and recommendations suggested by participants.
We look forward to sharing the valuable lessons learned via short reports (see below), as well as sharing findings through speaking engagements, and at our annual conference. We will also prepare a more detailed report each year, with recommendations for churches.
If you are someone with recent lived experience of poverty, and have engaged with church-based social action and/or regular church activities during the last five years, we would love to hear from you.
Our next Jubilee+ Voices advisory group will be held in Hull on Thursday 2nd February (click here to get in touch with Advisory Group Lead, Rosie Hopley, and find out more).
