Praxis Labs 2: Future-Proof Your Activism

Praxis Labs 2: Future-Proof Your Activism

I think it’s fair to say that the last three years have been tough – for everyone. Maybe your life is now settling into something that resembles your old ‘normal’. Or maybe, like me, you look back to your life in January 2020 and find it completely different to your day-to-day now.

At the start of 2020, I was exhausted: burned out because of an unhealthy work/rest balance and a skewed perspective on what God thought and expected of me. For me, it was on the Praxis Labs course that he drew together his love, justice, mercy and grace into a clearer, fuller picture of what his kingdom looks like. It’s been this picture – this deep understanding of his love and his desire to restore his creation – that has sustained me through all the changes over the past few years.

It’s also helped me to pay attention to where he is at work in the world around me, on the macro- and micro-level. When I see successful campaigns lobbying companies to change their plastics waste practices to better protect creation, I see threads of God’s goodness at work. When I see church members supporting refugees as they learn English, I see the restoration of relationship –which is at the heart of the gospel – play out.

I wonder what helps you keep going? If you’re an activist who’s also found the last three years challenging – or are trying to figure out what your activism looks like in this new ‘normal’ and dream about what’s ahead – Praxis Labs 2 is for you. The course offers you an opportunity to go deeper: to delve more fully into the practicalities of what sustainable activism looks like. You’ll cover topics such as ‘Love and (don’t) burnout’, ‘Reimagining success and handling failure’, and ‘If you want to go far, go together’, as well as thinking through campaign and community activism strategy and tactics.

Praxis Labs 2 is designed for you, if you’re passionate about making a difference, and want to discover how to make your campaigning or community work more effective. It’s also for you if you’re taking action but it isn’t easy, and it’s hard to hold onto hope and balance everything you’re doing with your own health.

On the course, you’ll hear from others who have walked this road, and find space to reflect, think and dream. By the end, you’ll have the insights you need to stay hopeful and to more effectively bring about change for the long-term.

Featuring contributions from Jo Musker-Sherwood, Laura Young (aka Less Waste Laura), Jack Wakefield, Aaron Shah and other experienced activists, the course runs for six weeks starting on 27th April 2023. Check out the Praxis website for more information about the course and to register your interest. We hope to see you there!
